Apply accounting principles to more complex transactions and adjustments beyond basic bookkeeping activities
Interpreting financial statements
Analyse financial statements to assess financial performance, position, and trends.
Using ratios and performance measures
Calculate and interpret financial ratios to evaluate profitability, liquidity, and efficiency.
Regulatory and reporting requirements
Apply professional, legal, and regulatory requirements when preparing and reviewing financial statements.

Core unit: Internal Accounting Systems and Controls (IASC)

Understanding accounting systems
Evaluate how accounting systems operate within organisations and how they support accurate financial reporting.
Internal controls and risk management
Assess internal controls and understand how they manage risk, prevent error, and reduce fraud.
Maintaining accuracy and compliance
Ensure financial information is accurate, reliable, and compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Reviewing and improving accounting processes
Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and controls to support efficiency and effectiveness.

Optional Specialist Units – Pick 2

Alongside the core units, you will choose two optional units that reflect what you do at work and where you want your career to go next.
You won’t be expected to decide on your own, your employer and training provider will help you choose the options that best fit your role and future plans.

Business tax
Apply advanced business tax principles, including corporation tax and compliance requirements, and support the preparation and review of tax calculations and submissions.
Personal Tax
Prepare and review personal tax calculations and returns, including income tax and capital gains tax, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation.
Audit and Assurance
Understand the purpose and process of audit and assurance, support audit activities, and apply professional standards when reviewing financial information.
Cash and Treasury Management
Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury activities, supporting financial stability and effective short and long term cash management.
Credit and Debt Management
Control credit risk, manage receivables, and apply effective credit and debt management practices to support cash flow and organisational performance.
